I always find being in the presence of rhinos to be a humbling experience. They’re slow and gentle, but there’s an unspoken agreement that they could ruin your day if they wanted to.
When I found this White Rhino in the middle of the day I didn’t expect to take any photos – the harsh light and strong heat haze weren’t exactly inspiring – but I turned the engine off to sit and watch it for a while. As it grazed closer and closer it stopped for a moment in the shade of a nearby tree, and suddenly this composition appeared. It’s now one of my favourite rhino photos I’ve taken.
